F-509 Vratislavice Mineral Spring

Karl Skollaude came across the mineral spring in the valley between Jablonec nad Nisou and Liberec in 1862, when he was extending his well. The unusual taste of the water surprised him and he considered it to taste like the remnants of gunpowder. Three years later, a chemist surprised him with information as to the fact that it was a rare curative spring. Crowds of people began to throng there from near and far. A spa was eventually established on the site and its tower is still a symbol of Vratislavice today.
