F-403 Slaný

The establishment of the market settlement under Slánská hora is borne out by two documents by Přemysl Otakar II dating from 1262 and 1271. It received its name from the salty (slaný) stream in the foothills of Slánská hora. At the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries, the settlement was raised to the status of a royal town, whose growth was only halted by the events after White Mountain, when the town became the property of the House of Martinic. It then passed into the protection of the sovereign. It was once again revived by the development of industry from the mid-19th century.
