F-236 Saint Methodius

(*815 - †6 April 885) One of the most important scholars of the 9th century. Originally a respected Byzantine lawyer, later a Slavic priest and the first Archbishop of Moravia and Pannonia. Together with St. Cyril, he promoted Old Slavonic as the new language of worship. Great Moravia thus became the cradle of Slavic education.
