F-477 Rychnov nad Kněžnou Château

One of the largest and at the same time most beautiful baroque facilities in the Czech Republic, whose founder and historically only owner was the House of Kolowrat. The original, insufficiently magnificent old château built in the valley by Burjan Trčka of Lípa was replaced with a sumptuous aristocratic seat on the slight slope under the Church of the Holy Trinity. The construction took place in 1676–90 and the famous architect Jan Santini-Aichel probably also participated in other modifications. The château creates the town’s graceful silhouette and it is known as the Hradčany of Rychnov.
