F-542 Nymburk

A royal town which owes its foundation to Premysl Otakar II. We no longer know the exact date when it began to be built, but the town’s year of establishment is currently given as 1275. Throughout the entire Middle Ages, it was one of the most significant towns in the country and it soon became one of the strategic towns guarding the heart of the Czech kingdom, Prague. Its historical core was declared an urban heritage zone in 1992. The rare architectural gems especially include the Church of Saint Giles, the medieval fortifications and the Turkish Tower.
