F-307 Mountain hut on Ještěd

The large, new mountain hotel was opened on Ještěd on 13th January 1907. The construction was initiated by the affluent German Mountain Association for the Ještěd and Jizera Mountains. The stone building with a 28 m high observation tower included 23 rooms, a hostel for 50 people and a common room with an extensive veranda for 200 people. The building was also used for television broadcasts from 1959. This unique building was destroyed by a fire, which broke out during the careless defrosting of the water pipes, on 31st January 1963.
