F-775 Josef Hlávka

(*15.2.1831 - †11.3.1908) The greatest Czech philanthropist, a famous architect and builder who was famous for his social awareness. The current Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, the Economics Institute and the student hostels in Prague owe their existence to this native of Přeštice. His château in Lužany became a meeting place for the Czech artistic elite. Hlávka’s legacy continues to be fulfilled by the foundation that he established.
