(*6.2.1905 - †31.10.1980) An elegant comic, a philosophical clown, an original actor and an author of modern fairy tales. He made his indelible mark on theatre history when working with Jiří Voskovec at the Liberated Theatre (Osvobozené divadlo). He had a great deal of charisma, he hated formality and he always said looked others in the eye whenever he had something to say. He lived by the motto: “if a person exists, he should make sure to be“.
