(*17 September 1910 - †1 March 1971) A classic of modern poetry who with his debut, "Sung From Afar", suddenly joined the elite of Czech poetry. He became famous with children around the world for the poems and rhymes in “A Collection of Verses and Fairy Tales”. The collections “Hiroshima” and “Romance for Flugelhorn” are the culmination of Hrubín's work. His poems glow with natural motifs, quiet tenderness, transience and ruin.
