F-536 František Bílek

(*6.11.1872 - †13.10.1941) Leading Czech symbolist – sculptor, graphic artist, illustrator, author of applied art, architect and theological thinker. A great mystic who emphasised a message that he presented in a modern and timeless way. He mainly created religious themes or the figures of Czech luminaries. Despite frequent criticism, he entered art history thanks to his tenacity and talent.
