F-636 Týniště nad Orlicí

The first written mention about the town at the confluence of the Tichá and Divoká Orlice River dates from 1361. The originally mercantile settlement belonged to the Lords of Kunštát in the 15th century and its fate was combined with that of the Častolovice Estate from 1577. A number of fishponds were constructed in the municipality and its environs in the 1st half of the 16th century. The “town in the forest” received its modern appearance in the 19th century, when it became an important railway hub. This was the prerequisite for the establishment and development of local industry. Týniště nad Orlicí has found fame, for example, through the manufacture of weaving looms, furniture and upright pianos.
