F-205 Tadeáš Haenke

(*5.12.1761 - †31.10.1817) A famous Czech naturalist and dauntless traveller born in Chřibská. He entered history with his mountain conquests and an enormous number of natural discoveries. He was mainly active in South America, where he discovered, for example, the effects of Chilean nitre, which was an excellent fertiliser. Probably his best-known discovery was the Victoria amazonica, the largest water lily in the world.
