(*3.7.1857 - †12.8.1928) One of the most remarkable composers of the 20th century, born in Hukvaldy. Few people were as moulded by their local countryside as Janáček. He applied a completely original approach to composition, thanks to which his opera Jenůfa conquered the world. He established a conservatory in Brno in 1919 and he also dedicated his most famous orchestral work, the Sinfonietta, to Brno.
