F-273 Kaspar Maria von Sternberg

(*6.1.1761 - †20.12.1838) Respected geologist, botanist and in particular the founder of modern palaeobotany. He was instrumental in the development of economic and cultural affairs in the Czech lands. He was a leading initiator and co-founder of the National Museum. He believed that the significance and happiness of the nation resided in its intelligence, its recognition of the past and its moral principles.
