F-558 Karel Poláček

(*22.3.1892 - †21.1.1945) Journalist, satirist, humourist, the author of 25 wonderful books and a native of Rychnov nad Kněžnou. His school results were bad, but they brought him to the start of his writing career. He was mainly inspired by his beloved Rychnov. He wrote perhaps his most beautiful and successful book, There Were Five of Us (Bylo nás pět), while awaiting transport to Terezín.
