F-567 Josef Mánes

(*12 May 1820 - †9 December 1870) Master of Czech national painting and the greatest Czech painter of the 19th century, coming from a branch of the Mánes painting family. One of his most famous works is the calendar of the Prague Astronomical Clock. Many of his works are inspired by manuscripts, but also by the lives of rural people, especially those from Haná, where he stayed for a long time at the chateau in Čechy pod Kosířem.
