F-177 Josef Čapek

(*23.3.1887 - †April 1945) One of the most significant Czech modern painters, a writer and playwright, born in Hronov. He always expressed himself freely without any regard for fashion or market requirements. His distinctive penmanship can be found in numerous illustrations, book covers or stage designs. His Stories of the Doggie and the Pussycat for children are an excellent example of his virtuosity.
