F-456 Johann Wenzel Bergl

(*23.9.1719 - †15.1.1789) A significant Czech painter of the late Baroque and the court painter of Empress Maria Theresa, who was born in Dvůr Králové nad Labem. His most significant works include wall frescos in Schönbrunn and the Hofburg or the decorations in several Lower Danube monasteries. He painted three Ways of the Cross in the Czech Republic, namely in Opočno, Dvůř Králové nad Labem and Letohrad.
