F-174 Jan Evangelista Purkyně

(*17 December 1787 - †28 July 1869) World-famous physiologist, anatomist, biologist, poet and philosopher, born in Libochovice Castle. He was among the first in the world to formulate cell theory. More than 30 terms from biology and medicine are associated with his name. He founded the very first physiological institute in Central Europe and was appointed a member of the Royal Society of London.
