(*10 December 1818 - †3 March 1903) A native of Semily and the most important Czech politician of the 19th century, who excelled in his speeches in the Austrian Constituent Assembly. He served as a member of the Czech Parliament for 27 years, and of the Austrian Imperial Council for 14 years. Together with his father-in-law, F. Palacký, he was the leading representative of the Old Bohemians. He edited the first general Czech encyclopaedia - Rieger's educational dictionary.
